Basic Online Marketing

f you're new to the internet and you want to start a website to accomplish whatever task that you want to do, then you're going to need to know some basic online marketing strategies that will help you to achieve your goal. Online marketing is easy, but you can definitely spend a lot of time wandering around if you don't know what you're doing. Luckily I'm here to help.
Basic online marketing for some people means that you set up a website, submit it to the search engines, and that's it. TOTALLY WRONG. The old axiom "If you build it they will come" does not apply to the internet. You have to actually do some marketing. And you never want to do online marketing in a way that doesn't bring you targeted traffic, and for most people - income.
The bottom line is that basic online marketing strategies are all that you need to use to have success with your internet business. These are strategies such as search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click advertising (PPC), banner or display advertising on websites, blogs, and forums online, video marketing, article marketing and syndication, and much more. Now I'm sure you've heard of all of these things before, but do you know how to actually carry out a plan to use these strategies effectively?
You know, some people like to "shortcut" their way to riches. To them, when you start an online business, you're supposed to make money IMMEDIATELY. So what do these people do? They employ so-called "basic online marketing" techniques such as:
- Solo ads
- Blasting their website to 1,000,000 people using a service
- Buying email lists
- Using classified ad submitters
- Using submitter software that claims to submit their site to 100's of search engines
- And more terrible strategies
I've seen people lose A LOT of money using the technique of solo ads. For most people, most solo ads are scams. Not all are scams, but in my opinion and from what I've seen and tested myself... about 98% of them are scams. However, if you lurk around Facebook groups about solo ads, you may tend to think otherwise.
Why is that? Well, you will see glorified testimonials from people saying that they made $5,000 to a solo ad mailing to only 200 people. And etc. For the most part, it's nonsense, and the solo ad sellers play a dangerous game deluding people with fake leads and results. Some of these sellers will even buy your cheap product to make you think that you are having success, when in fact they still profit while you lose - and more than likely - you will return to purchase a solo ad from this seller again.
And once they get your money, they will do the same thing - over and over again. It's sad, but many newbies think that this is basic online marketing. In fact, some people base their entire advertising money and online marketing campaign on this method. Little do they know that they're being scammed and robbed right in front of their faces.
Basic online marketing needs to start with math. You need to know the numbers in your business. You need to know what you're selling, how much you're selling it for, what you cost per lead is, what your cost per sale is, what your break-even number is, what your plan is to make more money from your customers, how to maximize the overall total revenue from your customers, how you're going to include a continuity program into your business, and more.
These are the BASICS. If you don't have these basics ready to go, how in the world do you plan on making profits? Sure you may get "sales", but what good are sales if you're not making money? It may look good to family and friends, but if you're 40 years old and you're still working a job for $8/hour... people are going to start to doubt you and your claims. And God forbid that any of your customers or competition finds out about it. They both can destroy your business because you would be lying to them.
Look, basic online marketing techniques that I've mentioned earlier are essential to your growth online. You need a plan, and you need to think out everything in advance before you spend a dime on advertising. In fact, you need to think everything out in advance before you register a domain name and buy a website. Don't be clueless like most people and spend the next 5-10 years losing money.
If you want to learn some basic online marketing skills, keep reading and continuing your education about internet marketing. Regularly visit forums, blogs, and websites that teach you the fundamentals - and then start doing some small experiments. When people ask me what's the best way to learn how to run an online business, I tell them to go and sell on eBay. I think you should try this also, just to get a feel of how to run a business online.
Search in your home or sort through some personal belongings of your's, and sell things that you don't use or want/need anymore. Then go to eBay and list them for sale. You will be surprised at how fast they sell. From there, you will learn how to package and ship out items, how to utilize the automation tools that they have along with other 3rd party services, and you will come up with creative ideas of how to make even more money with eBay.
Then simply use the basic online marketing skills that you've learned from searching around the internet, and apply it to your eBay selling. And then eventually (if you choose to do so)... you can start your own website, and sell whatever you want to sell - all while using the same online marketing techniques that you were using on eBay to drive traffic and get sales.
Don't make this harder than it has to be. Simply utilize the core, basic online marketing fundamentals and you will be good to go.

How to Advertise a Small Business

Starting An Internet Marketing Business Online

Are you looking to start an internet marketing business online? If so, you need to know exactly what you're getting yourself into. Don't think you can just enter into this industry and expect to start making millions of dollars within the next 6 months. I get requests from people all the time telling me that they want to be making $5,000 per month within 3 months. And these are people who have never sold a thing online!
One thing that you need to know is that when starting an internet marketing business online, you "kind of" have the world at your feet. There's plenty of places to advertise, there's plenty of ways to get free traffic to your site, there's plenty of business owners looking to learn how to do effective marketing online, and etc. So you can be kind of spoiled once you get your hands on some training materials.
But understand that you are operating in a HIGH competition arena. A smart thing that you could do is to offer internet marketing services to local small businesses in your area. Most offline small business owners don't have a clue about how to market their business online. But in the online world, people have training thrown at them all the time.
So I guess the best question to ask yourself is: "How am I different?" Right?? You don't want to be a "me-too" person when marketing your products and services online. This applies if you choose to be a coach, consultant, or sell products such as books, CD's, DVD's, or even magazines. So how are you different? How will you separate yourself from the pack and differentiate yourself from everyone else online who are making the same claims as you?
It's something you need to think about when launching your own internet marketing business online. Where most people get tripped up at is when, they read someone's free eBook about internet marketing, and then go and buy a large resell rights package that is ALL ABOUT internet marketing.
Each product in the package contains something about internet marketing. More often than not, the resell rights bundle may contain products about:
Email marketing
Forum marketing
YouTube marketing
General internet marketing
Consumer buying behaviour
Copywriting
Etc (the list goes on and on)
And most of these people spend YEARS trying to figure out a way to sell these products - if not sell them as a bundle. OR if not resell the same offer that they bought to receive these items. After years of failure, they usually leave feeling depressed, broke, and convinced that making money online is impossible... if not a scam. And this is just not true.
All of these kinds of products are supposed to teach people about niche marketing. Especially a general product about internet marketing. The real pros who sell internet marketing products successfully sell them primarily for a good reason: THEY SELL THEM FOR VERY HIGH PRICES.
They sell one course about internet marketing at $200. Then they backend sell you for another similar course at $500. Then they sell you another similar course with huge bonuses for $1000. Then they sell their 3-day seminar and invite you to attend... for the price of $2000. THEN they convince you to sign up for their monthly newsletter or membership website and charge you $50/month to join.
How rich do you think you would be if you were to successfully get people to buy your products at these price ranges?
Meanwhile, you're being convinced that selling $19 eBooks will save you from your day job. This is just not the case. To make $100,000 by selling $19 eBooks, you would have to sell 5000 eBooks per year. That comes out to 416 eBooks per month. Which means you would have to sell 104 eBooks per week. Which thus means you would have to sell 14 eBooks per day.
How are you going to sell 13 eBooks per day and you're struggling to make even a dime of profit selling a $5 eBook on eBay? You have to learn a lot about internet marketing if you want to make a lot of money in this business. ESPECIALLY if you're selling information about "internet marketing". If you're not a guru and have been selling other niche products successfully online, don't enter into this broad arena.
The gurus who are selling "internet marketing" products successfully have a plan that has worked well for them over the years. EVEN IF they lose money on the first sale of getting that first customer, they know how to recoup their losses, and then still profit on the next sale that they make from that customer.
They know their numbers. They know their sales conversion rate, their cost per lead, cost per sale, and their average long term value of a customer. Let me ask you a question:
If you knew that for every 1 customer you acquired, that you were going to make an average of $5000 over the lifetime of that customer spending money with you... would you care if you lost $5 just to acquire them in the first place? Of course, you wouldn't care.
But I'm sure you would care if you were spending $5 to acquire them, and then not selling to them again to recoup your profits. That would mean that for every customer you get, you would be losing $5 per sale... forever. You have to market to these customers over and over again to recoup a frontend loss. This is called "backend marketing".
If you want to get started online in the internet marketing business, you have to bring your A-game and have a mathematical plan of how you're going to make money. There's a lot to learn, but once you gain an understanding of how marketing online works (and how marketing in general works)... you'll be well on your way to success in your business.
If you're going to buy a resell rights bundle package, at least READ the information in the products you acquired so that you can know how to sell them successfully. Don't be a hopeless cause.

What Is Digital Marketing?

7 Important Facts That You Should Know About Online Marketing

When it comes to online marketing, everyone starts off thinking they know how to do it. But, the truth is, online marketing is not very different from other types of marketing. The tool is different, but the way you go about it really isn't.
You still need to understand who your audience is, what your product or service is, and know how to explain to your audience why it will solve their problems and why you are the one to offer it.
The following mistakes can lead to problems with getting more business.
1. Not Sticking to One Brand
Don't try to recreate your brand for every social media network. Keep the same brand image, slightly changed up for each network's platform and features. You want your customers to know who you are, no matter where they connect with you.
2. Not Watching Your Competitors
You don't want to copy your competitors, but watching them will help you stay one step ahead of them. Be aware of what type of products and/or services your competition provides and be ready to do them one better.
3. Not Having a Goal
It's imperative that for each type of marketing you do, you have a goal in mind. Whether it's content marketing, pay-per-click marketing, or social media marketing, having a goal to reach will help you know whether or not you've accomplished your mission. Plus it will help you know how to move forward.
4. Not Having Diverse and Regular Content
It's no longer enough to simply put up 500-word blog posts and expect to get a loyal following. Today you need longer blog posts, video, podcasts, infographics, memes and more to ensure that you are reaching all parts of your audience.
5. Not Having an Email List
It's surprising how many business owners there are who don't realize the importance of building an email list for successful online marketing. But it's true; some people don't build an email list, and they should.
6. Not Having Well-Written Content
You can't just slap anything up and expect it to be successful when it comes to content marketing. You need original, unique content that speaks directly to your audience. In addition, you need curated content from other experts which you comment on.
7. Not Focusing on Benefits over Features
It's tempting to discuss all the features of your product or service instead of the benefits. All marketing messages, even on your "about us" page, need to be focused on your client and how your products or services benefit them. That can be difficult to wrap your brain around sometimes, but it is imperative in order to get more conversions.
Every successful online entrepreneur has made mistakes in their business at some time or another. It's all part of the learning process.
